22.6.12

the lie becomes the truth.

Two of my favorite things - M.J. and The Civil Wars. So delightfully good.

13.5.12

i spy.

Sometimes I come home from work and I just want to...

6.9.11

school daze.

In honor of the first day of the school year, I give you....The Breakfast Club.

Oh how I wish I had broke it down in the library.

25.7.11

shameless advertising.

Okay, I realize that I have done this whole wedding trailer thing before but 618 Studios is just too good! It's not just that I was the maid of honour at their wedding, it's because their work is heartfelt and conveys everything and more you could ever want from a wedding. Two things: The venue is amazing. Condor's Nest Ranch...if you weren't so darn expensive I would book my non-existent wedding in a heartbeat. Numero dos. Succulents and jute runners. Enough said.

Dear weekend. You will be fabulous.
On our agenda is the following.

uno. desperately needed mani/pedi.
dos. a glass (or two) of wine and a very interesting book.                                                    (honestly, I went back to college and brought out the highlighter + pen for this one)                                    tres. learning to watercolour (like this?) with lovely friends.
quatro. yoga at my soon-to-become favourite yoga bogha
cinco. Fleet Foxes concert at Edgefield with a little bit of this in my glass.
seis. Starting my graduate school application essay...maybe.

7.7.11

holly golightly.

This is by far one of my favorite songs. I grew up watching Breakfast at Tiffany's, not really understanding the whole story but loving it anyways. When I was old enough to catch on, I grew to appreciate it even more, especially this song. I swear, if someone sung this to me every day before I fell asleep I would be the happiest girl alive.

4.7.11

heat.

It is officially summer in Portland. Can I get a "hallelujah"?
Blues Festival.
Perfect opportunity to lay out near the Willamette,
catch some rays and listen to the jams.

Even this little guy thought so.

How delightful do these look for a hot summer day...must make.

9.6.11

31.5.11

black and white keys.

When I was 7 or so my mother signed me up for piano lessons. Seemed like a good idea at the time, except I just did not find it as exciting as my mother did. I'm pretty sure the words "it hurts my fingers," came out of my mouth. So I dropped the piano and went for the violin...that didn't last long, so I then found myself with the clarinet. Needless to say I didn't spend a lot of time with any of these instruments to master them. The clarinet was probably the longest musical relationship I had...3 years. My grandmother recently has been on the "who is getting my stuff" kick and has informed me I will be receiving her piano. My response; a mixture of "oh my" and "oh crud." I don't want to be that girl with the piano in her apartment...who can only play a shoty rendition of A Whole New World from Aladdin. Not exactly the best party trick.

So my new summer resolution...take out the old keyboard and get working. Piano players...any good books to help me get crackin'? (I'm to cheap to pay for a teacher..someday)

10.5.11

as we go on.

So this past weekend I flew down to Orange County, California. Within 2 hours of getting off the plane, I was sitting next to a pool getting my tan on. I could not have been happier. Put together Disneyland, sushi, an Angels game, lounging by the pool, amazing art at the Getty in LA and my favorite people in the world (with margaritas in hand)...you get one happy Kelsey.

Angels game. beer + sports = big smile.

 and my favorite...graduation.

mother, sister, father.

Daddio!

My California mom, a.k.a. Kelley's mom Stacey that I have adopted. Unfortunately my California Dad, Dennis didn't join in our photo fun!

only in Southern California would a church look like this...

Had to finish with this 90's favorite. Who doesn't love a little Vitamin C.
(Please keep a watch out for the hacky sack)

Only a few more days and I will be returning for a wedding! Now all I have to decide is what to wear! argh!

9.5.11

walk on.

Officially a graduate, and feeling nostalgic. I could listen to The Weepies over and over again. Saw them in concert last fall...if you have a chance to see them live, do it.
Can't Go Back Now has to be one of my favorites. They said they wrote it for their daughter when she first started to walk. Appropriate for her and just about everyone else of any age. Enjoy.

Pics tomorrow of my California adventure!

26.4.11

summa part deux

I realized today why summer is now on my mind 24/7...someones going to Southern California next week. Thats right! I'm going to get my graduation on (and beach, and fro yo and sushi and margarita(s)). Can you tell I am stoked!
Of course every good summer needs a soundtrack, so I begin with this new fav.         Fleet Foxes - Grown Ocean. What is going to be on your summer soundtrack?

13.4.11

pickmeup.

It's been a bit of a rough week in the heirloom residence, so I will be taking a bit of a longer break than expected. I leave you with this cheery clip...I have to admit I kind of forced myself to watch it (not really being in the mood) and ended up laughing so hard that I started to cramp up.
Of course that was after my fourth time in a row of watching Emma Stone sing a way too catchy song while also creating a stylish shower faux hawk.

8.4.11

jet plane.

For some reason whenever I hop on a plane Peter, Paul and Mary start playing in my head. You could blame my mother for the Leaving on a Jet Plane obsession...but I honestly do love a good folk song.                           For those of you that don't know I am on my way to the lovely state of Massachusetts...checking out graduate schools, planning my future, but more importantly exploring Boston and visiting a lovely friend of mine (I most definitely have my priorities straight).

Anywho, taking a few days off from blog world to go soak up some East coast culture. Anything special I should do??

24.3.11

typhoon.

How much do I love the Portland band Typhoon. THIS (stretching my arms) MUCH. The lead singer of Typhoon, Kyle and Danielle of Congratulations did a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City". So so beautiful. I just keep on putting it on repeat.

8.3.11

melody.

I saw Angus and Julia Stone a few years back when they opened for Brett Dennen. I was amazed. It was the first time I had ever heard them and I have never turned away since.
I love how with almost every song they switch who has the dominant voice, quite the brother and sister team.
Absolutely love their music video of Big Jet Plane...not to mention that I am so jealous of how well they rock the head dresses.

25.2.11

i hope you don't mind.

Ellie Goulding's cover of 'Your Song' may just be my new fav.

27.1.11

wilderness.

I could listen to the Into the Wild soundtrack 100 times and never be tired of it. Thank you Eddie Vedder and Alexander Supertramp.

3.1.11

rewind + repeat.

I'm pretty sure I could listen to this song over and over again, and never get sick of it.
So lovely! And so begins the soundtrack of 2011.

22.12.10

holiday cheer.

I don't know about you, but when I think holiday season I think Bing Crosby and black and white movies (add a blazing fire and some hot cocoa and we have perfection).
Hope you enjoy this little gem!
Happy Holidays!
